From Bad to Worse

December 6, 2010 | 13 Comments

Oh Gosh…. January 1st marks my 1 year anniversary change to SEO, and at this rate I almost feel like I am back were I have started from. I am dreading even writing this post because of the stress and disappointment I know it is going to dredge up. Yesterday was my worst earnings day in over 8 months. I made exactly $32.67. Yup… Not even $40.00. Keep in mind that there are only 19 more days till Christmas… This drastic decrease in earnings honestly sends shivers down my spine.

To give you a since on how bad it has been here is a 3 month chart of my AdSense earnings and AdSense impressions..… Now, mind you, this is decrease in earnings is happening among all my networks, NOT just AdSense.

Now what am I going to do about this? Well, I have yet to figure that out. I know I am in deep, deep dog poop though if this continues this way….

I’ll post soon as to what’s happening and hopefully it’ll be a good update!

Love,

Becky

Hey Becky don’t get discouraged I’m sure you can turn things around. Have you looked at other ways to monetize your sites?

I have been following your blog for a while now, you are very genuine in a niche full of hype and fakes. :)

Have you changed something three months ago that could have this effect? Maybe check all your sites rankings and make sure none have moved down the SERPs. Just keep trying, giving up is the worst option.

My rankings have really been sucking this past month as well… it is very frustrating and disheartening to see. Plateauing or even dropping for a week or two in a row is one thing, but to continuously drop for a month just plain sucks.

I wonder if the SE’s are making some changes in how they rank. There have certainly been a number of changes made by Google recently, and I can see Bing making a bunch since their merger…

Hopefully things will pick up soon!

    Hey!

You might want to change your permalinks!

this is what it says for this page: ?p=305

    Thats really bad for SEO!!!

Just thought i’d let you know.. :)

TO change it, go to permalinks, hit custom and type in this: /%postname%/

Hey Robert! Thanks for the encouraging words. I really need it at this point! I did check, and the only thing that has really changed is that google changed it algorithm. I’ve been saying it for a while, but now I really need to do it, I need to become more diverse. I’ve been depending on one of two sites for a majority of my income and it’s just too risky that way.

Hi Dino. Yes, I will change my permalinks right now. Thanks. i make zero dollars on this site, and I never have, so i’ve never really been worried about the SEO on this site. However, maybe I should start to bring in some cash with it? I mean it’s been up for long enough!

Becky, don’t be discouraged. Be consistent and your results will rebound in the opposite direction.

Great pic by the way! I am sure I am visitor #873 that has said that :)

Why are you even focusing on Adsense? You push all of this traffic to your site and then you have to encourage people to click the links so they leave? That sounds like a waste of work. Focus on something else. Add value to the site so that people come back. Then they’ll trust you. And when they trust you, they’ll open their wallets.

That’s the tip I give to all my clients. I encourage them to stop looking at Adsense as the almighty way of earning. Instead, I explain that value will generate 10x the revenue because trust makes mega-bucks.
