A Year In Review….

January 12, 2011 | 11 Comments

Where to start, where to start? It’s been quite an emotional roller coaster of a year with my cancer scare, and my dad living threw a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm ( less then a 0.1% survival rate! ).  Financially it was better then 2009, but still not what I need or what I want! In the start of 2010 I decided to go SEO only. I was losing shirt with PPC and simply could NOT afford to gambling with my money like that anymore. One year later SEO has paid off, but in the last 2 months it has not been as consistent as I need it be. Nor is it making me rich!

Lets just jump into the numbers. Oh and charts because charts are fun-a-roo!

This First Chart is of my Monthly Earning since January 2010…

… Drum Roll PLEASE….

$ 22,340.46

Next… This Chart is my Daily Average Earnings Per Month – Since January 2010…

Before I go into my thoughts all of this… Here’s  a list of my monthly bills so that we can put this more into perspective…

Mortgage         $ 425.00
Water $ 100.00
Heat $ 65.00
Prosper Loan $ 47.00
Chase Credit Card $ 20.00
Personal Loan $ 55.00
Personal Credit Card #1 $ 20.00
Personal Credit Card #2 $ 60.00
Personal Credit Care #3 $ 20.00
NY & Co Credit Card $ 20.00
Prosper Loan $ 47.00
Chase Credit Card $ 15.00
AMX Silver – Business $ 60.00
Advanta – Business $ 60.00
Health Insurance $ 150.00
Cable $ 15.00
Cell Phone $ 100.00
Host Gator $ 20.00

FOR A GRAND TOTAL of  $ 1,350.00

Bare in mind a few things… For starter I didn’t include, food , gas, monthly out sourcing expense, taxes or any miscellaneous expenses like dog care and such. So, If I want to make an estimate on the random expanses, I would say I need to make :

$2000.00 a month on average to sustain myself.

This means I need to make AT THE VERY LEAST $67.00 a day ( 7 DAYS A WEEK. )

Furthermore, this does not include putting extra money away into savings, retirement, toward my Credit Card debt, or for a wedding I might have someday….. Luckily my boyfriend pays for my car & car insurance. This is a “deal”  we came up with so that I could work on paying off my credit cards. Furthermore, lets also keep in mind I still have my “other” business , and I do a little ebay ( more on that on a different post) that brings in some extra cash. BUT this give everyone a good indication as to have much I need to make a day to “be comfortable” . While I understand that $45.00 average daily in ‘passive income’ is NOT to shabby , it’s not even close to anything I can live off of comfortably.  From online marketing alone, there were only 3 or 4 months last year that I was making more than my needed $2000.00 a month.

Additional I feel like in this stage of the game I should easily be way ahead of $67.00 day.  People like Brendan ( 20YearBillionaire.com ) , Pat Flynn (SmartPassiveIncome.com) , Beermonies.com, Nicole ( nicoleonthenet.com ) are all making $100,000 a year or MORE and  they ALL started around the same time I did. Some are even making a month, what I made in ALL of 2010! When I look at these people I get a very discouraged and dishearten. For inspiration and  to figure out “what I am missing” I have been spending every ounce of my free time listening to pod casts, reading blogs, and going on forums.  By doing this I have come up with a couple of conclusions:

#1. I need to set specific Goals. The more specific the better.

#2. “The middle of the road is the best place to get run over.”

#3. You get back what you give.

I will elaborate on #1 in a later post, because honestly I have a broad over view of goals but I believe they need to be more specific. #2 and #3 go together. #2 basically means if you do what everyone else is doing your going to get run over… and #3 means just it what it sounds like, I need to give more. In this case I need to give out more information of what exactly I do. In the next coming year I am promising to you to be more transparent. Honestly, there is only so much of my personal drama that one person can read before they lose interest. The promise to give out more information makes me nervous because I sometimes don’t have the confidence my abilities to share my “secrets” with the world. I fear the ‘experts’ will snicker and laugh at there computers and think “hahahahahaha this girl is doing that! Know wonder she’s dropping in google. She’s an Idiot!”. Additionally I worry the ‘bad guys’ will break into my site and sabotage them … I don’t know how they will do that, but I worry that they will… However, lately have been reading a lot from  Pat Flynn’s (SmartPassiveIncome.com)  and Glen’s ( ViperChill.com ) blog. Both of these guys just put it out there. Here’s what I do and here’s how I do it…. Thoughts?

As for my personal goals for 2011 here they are ( Again, I will go into more detail with you when I, myself, know them.. ) My main goal is diversify, diversify, D E V E R S I F Y. I can’t make it off one site and currently I relying 80% on one site. So, that needs to change and this is how I plan to change it…..

  • Make 5 more sites. Get them up. Rank Them. Make money with them via affiliates, google adsense, Amazon.
  • After they rank, Tell you all step by step, from start to finish how I did it!
  • Write an , promote, rank an e-book. Yup an ebook (  Most nervous about this one ).
  • Be more transparent with you, my readers.
  • Get more readers.. Specifically 100 Subscribers by the end of the year. I plan to do this by simply giving out better content.
  • Tell you more about the products & software I use.
  • Start a membership site ( maybe ? )…
  • Daily earnings goals:
  • Keep current income revenue coming – $50 a day
  • Eventually make a minimum of 2 sales a day on my ebook  – $40 a day.
  • Make $20 in sales a day from Amazon Associates.
  • Make $50 a day in NEW affiliate sales.
  • Make a minimum of 2 membership sales a day – $20 a day .

Of course I am LOW balling all these goals so that they attainable…  The about figures would add up to be $180 a day =  $5400 a month! AND $65,700 a year. $65,700 is below my goal of $100,000 BUT I do think it’s a great and attainable goal for 2011.

Questions? Comments ? Concerns? They are all welcome and loved.

Love,

Becky

Please please please please please don’t go down the “How To Make Money” ebook route. You seem like a nice girl and you write very well, please don’t lower yourself to that :)

What you probably don’t realise is that you are already way ahead of where you think you are. The fact that you are creating $10+ income a day (without risk or expense) from even a single website says you’re way ahead of so many people that talk the talk – ebooks and all.

The key to making any money online is traffic, income always grows in line with traffic. If I had a pound for every person I’d seen who had got to less than your point and decided to concentrate on “sharing” via an ebook (or personal blog) rather than on increasing their traffic I’d be rich. I’ve pretty much stopped blogging altogether this year and by working on my websites that matter I’ve increased my traffic nearly 500%. No prizes for guessing what that’s done to my income :) Please don’t get sucked into the whole MMO niche

If I was you (which is unlikely as I look like an ogre) I’d take my one website that you currently rely on and replicate it. Not exactly of course but work in the same niche, even promoting the same offers if you must. You’ve already got the content to base from and work with. Expand out from that core which you know is working for you and you’ll not go far wrong.

All the best for 2011 and I really hope that you reach your goals for this year.

First off thanks for your reply! Second I hear what your saying with the ebook. If I get to it, the subject may NOT be on MMO. I have a few ideas in on what it will be about. Again, that is if I even get to it. I am not going to go on to the next thing before the item before it on my list is accomplished. I also totally hear what you are saying about take what is working and do more of it. The thing is my current niche is low paying with mainly zip submits converting. So, I really would like to get into another niche. Furthermore, I am trying a different SEO technique then I have been doing in the past. Currently I’ve been needing all of these little things to work seamlessly together in order to make a profit. If one thing falters my earnings plummet. I can’t live like that. So if these new techniques and tools work that I will be at a much better position to repeat my strategy! Stay tuned !

    Becky,

Very impressed with what you have accomplished. Keep up the great work. Like you said, diversification is key. Don’t give up on PPC either. That’s another good income source. You just have to have the right tools and support network to make that happen for you.

Whatever you do, don’t be down on yourself. Your numbers are a solid starting point. Remember you are already well ahead of the game. Most people don’t have a clue how to make money online, or that it’s even possible to pursue a career in online marketing and create a lifestyle by design.

It takes balls to go on the adventure you are on, and an understanding that it is possible to be successful in this. That fact alone sets you apart from 99% of the people in the world. So you might not be making Pat’s kind of money but you are certainly on the right track and well ahead of the pack.

    Keep fighting the good fight.

I look forward to watching you achieve your goals.

    Becky,
Great job, you are doing better than me and most people I know. I would be really excited if my stats were like yours here :P

I hope 2011 is a better year for you.

I think you are paying off your credit and this is an accomplishment in itself.

    Goodluck, will be back soon.

You’re doing great Becky, this is an awesome first year! You’re making more than me and more than 90% of most affiliate marketers wille ever make. Keep pushing hard, testing and trying out new niches – more importantly keep paying off those credit cards and before you know it you’ll be out of credit debt and in to the black :D

Hi Becky, Sounds likes you have had many ups and down over the year, so it is great to hear that you ended it with a decent income from your online work. And by the sounds of it your goals for 2011 will blow 2010 away! Will

Hey Becky, I arrived at your site via the comment you left at wealthyaffiliaterevolution.com

I have just spent the last 2 hours reading every single post on this blog from Dec-08 to this one (glad you only have a couple of posts a month!)

I have to say you have inspired me to get off my behind and get it into action. I have been doing a lot of reading about the PPC game and have been reluctant to get into it because of the same reasons you have mentioned in some of your posts, its a crude form of gambling if you don’t know what you’re doing! However, having read your earlier posts I feel somewhat more confident to do something with it now, so just wanted to say thanks for the write ups.

Hope you make it to $100k in 2011!

    All the best

    Giz
